Introducing our captain - Mr A.

 

Our captain is Mr Colin Abbiss who has served our section for over 48 years and he has been captain for 40 of those years. As a result of his dedication to this company we are still running successfully today. We asked Mr. A to let us know how the boys brigade has changed in nearly 50 years.

 

Q. When exactly did you start?

A. i joined the boys brigade in september 1957.

 

Q. When did you become captain?

A. 1965 (40 years ago)

 

Q. Why did you become a leader?

A. good organisation, challenging and i liked the idea.

 

Q. What has changed over the years?

A. The uniform has changed three times.

 

Q. What has been the best event that you have been involved in?

A. When i carried the betallion colours into the Royal Albert Hall

 

Q. What has been your proudest moment?

A. Last year during five aside football final in northern ireland where we represented England.

 

Q. How is the church involved in the section?

A. The church has been very supportive in particular when they built the halls here at the church which allowed us to meet here. before that we met in a local school.

 

Q. What do you most enjoy about the boys brigade?

A. being with the boys.

 

Q. What has intrested you the most in this section?

A. Seeing the boys grow up and develop and being part of their development.
